Vice President, EM Grants at Civix

Rodney Thornhill has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Rodney currently serves as the Vice President of EM Grants at Civix, a position they have held since July 2020. Prior to this, Rodney worked at MB3 INC. for six years, starting as a Project Manager from September 2011 to June 2013. Rodney then moved up to become the Vice President of Operations from June 2013 to July 2014, and eventually the Chief Operating Officer from July 2014 to July 2020.

Before their time at MB3 INC., Rodney worked at CATSA / ACSTA as a Quality Management Analyst and Information Architect from January 2009 to August 2011. Additionally, they have experience as a Software Quality Manager at Bell from April 2007 to October 2008.

Rodney's career in the field of software development began at Cognos, where they worked as a Software Developer for ten years, starting in November 1996 and ending in September 2006. Prior to their transition into the tech industry, they worked as a High School Teacher at the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, teaching Math and Physics to grades 7 to 12, as well as coaching various boy's hockey, basketball, and softball teams from December 1993 to November 1995.

Rodney Thornhill's education history begins in 1988 when they attended Memorial University of Newfoundland. There, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, graduating in 1992. Following this, in 1993, they pursued a Bachelor of Education degree at the same institution. However, the field of study for their BEd is unspecified. Several years later, in 2006, Rodney attended the Information Technology Institute for a short duration, where they earned an Applied Information Technology Diploma. Lastly, from 2007 to 2010, they enrolled at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, where they completed a Project Management Certificate, focusing on Project Management.
