Has responsibility for HR and payroll, training and development and governance and compliance. A self-confessed Jack-of-all-trades, his role interfaces with every part of the business. David is responsible for the People elements of the Corporate Responsibility Strategy, including Human Rights.
David joined the company in July 1996 following the acquisition of Rees Construction Services Ltd by the Clancy Group and has worked in the Commercial and Finance Departments of the business. In April 2004 he was appointed Company Secretary of all of the subsidiary companies within the Clancy Group. In addition to the company secretarial duties, David has overall responsibility insurance, payroll, HR, business assurance and training. David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants, and a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.
Born in Woking in 1961, David was a keen footballer, trialling for England schoolboys and playing as a youth at Crystal Palace. He cut his teeth in the world of construction accountancy aged just 16, when he took a summer job with Rees, and was subsequently offered a place on their training programme. During his 18-year career with the company he obtained his accountancy professional qualifications and was involved in all aspects of the business including overseas trading with Europe, Japan, USA and the Middle East.
When he’s not at work, football is a huge passion of David’s. A Tottenham Hotspur supporter, he has coached and managed a variety of teams ranging from under 7’s through to seniors since he’s stopped playing himself. He enjoys sea fishing, something he’s done from a young age, and golf, a fairly new hobby that he’s incredibly enthusiastic about in good weather. David has four children and a lovely red setter.
