Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team as the Head of Legal in Mexico. This role requires a candidate with excellent communication skills, strong project management capabilities, and effective leadership qualities. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for overseeing legal matters in Mexico, negotiating with various stakeholders, and coordinating a team of legal professionals.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective leadership and communication within the legal team.
  • Coordinate and manage legal projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to legal standards.
  • Negotiate legal aspects related to products and collaborate with the product team.
  • Collaborate with Country Managers and product teams on legal matters.
  • Collaborate with external legal experts on specialized legal matters through a designated legal buffet.
  • Manage and prioritize all legal issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidate will have a background in fintech or technology companies.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
  • Proficient in English; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property, fintech, corporate, commercial, and industrial property law.
  • Familiarity with litigation processes.
  • Tolerance for handling conflicts and ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
  • Residence in Mexico City (CDMX) or nearby is preferred.
