Mariano Suarez Ponce de Leon has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and industries. Mariano started their career at Huntsman Tioxide as an Operations Engineer and later worked at Repsol as a Project Engineer and then as a Process Engineer. Mariano joined GE and served as Responsible for New Products Introduction in the Advanced Materials division, specifically in Plastics and Engineering Plastics. Mariano also worked as a Project Manager for New Product Line Manufacturing & Commercialization at GE. Mariano then moved to SABIC Innovative Plastics (formerly GE) as a Production Leader. After that, Mariano joined FCC Servicios Ciudadanos as a Business Development and Engineering Director. Mariano then transitioned to Clariant where they held various roles including Commercial Excellence Global Project Manager, Global Deployment Leader for Clariant Excellence in the Business Unit Masterbatches, and Head of Excellence Americas. Mariano was also the Global Deployment Leader for the Oil, Refinery, and Mining Services business unit. Mariano'smost recent positions at Clariant include Corporate Planning & Strategy and Global Head of Marketing & Strategy. Currently, they are the Head of Strategic Marketing at Clariant responsible for Strategy and Strategic Marketing for the Adsorbents and Additives Business Unit. Mariano Suarez Ponce de Leon obtained an Msc in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Huelva in the years 1994 to 2000. Mariano then pursued a Master's degree in Petrochemicals from Instituto Superior de la Energia from 2001 to 2002. In 2008 to 2010, they attended IESE Business School and earned an MBA. In 2011, they studied Corporate Finance at IE Business School. Mariano also completed the Strategy and Leadership Executive Program at London Business School in 2017, followed by a brief period of study at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2010. Mariano further enhanced their education in 2020 with a program in Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge and in 2019 with a program in Marketing at Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management.
