Selwyn Yee

Selwyn Yee has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Selwyn started their career at SAIC as an Applications Programmer, where they developed application and GUI in IDL, ENVI, C, and C++ for processing multi-spectral remote sensing images. Selwyn was also responsible for QA activities and Unix system and network administration.

After their time at SAIC, Selwyn joined Kaiser Aluminum as an Engineer on a contract basis. Here, they built machine vision instrumentation for industrial automation and wrote instrument control and data acquisition software in C, C++, and LabVIEW.

Next, Selwyn worked at Condor Systems as a Software Engineer, designing, writing, and testing signal processing and radar-detection software. Selwyn also developed Matlab analysis and GUI software and ensured compliance with SEI-CMM L2 standards.

Following Condor Systems, Selwyn joined BridgeWave Communications as a Software Engineer. Selwyn developed embedded software in C and vxWorks for a wireless extension product and managed software build, version control, and bug tracking systems. Selwyn was responsible for system and unit level testing and authored software specification documents and test plans.

Moving on, Selwyn worked at NOVASOL as a Senior Software Engineer. Selwyn played an important role in improving performance and automation on a laser communication system for a Navy program. Selwyn was also a key member of a team that developed and demonstrated a laser communication system for another Navy program.

Prior to their most recent role, Selwyn worked at Insitu Inc as a Software Engineer. Here, they developed a drone/UAV video server product, primarily using C++ with some Javascript coding and SQL. The product ingested and archived drone videos, indexed metadata into a SQL database, and enabled geospatial and computer vision workflows.

Currently, Selwyn is employed at Clarifai as a Deployment Engineer. Selwyn'sresponsibilities include deploying computer vision models in docker containers, developing docker-compose microservices, and writing backend Python code to support a computer vision inference engine.

Selwyn Yee has a strong educational background in the field of Physics. Selwyn completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1984 to 1988. Continuing their education, Selwyn obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Physics from San Jose State University between 1992 and 1995.

In addition to their formal education, Selwyn has obtained several certifications to further expand their knowledge and skills. In 2014, they completed a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera. Selwyn also holds certifications in Applied Plotting, Charting & Data Representation in Python (2017), Introduction to Data Science in Python (2017), and Applied Machine Learning in Python (2018), all obtained through Coursera Course Certificates. Furthermore, Selwyn obtained the ISO 9001:2008 Auditor certification from Vinod Kumar in June 2011.
