Mathieu Malaterre has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and consultancy. Mathieu is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer II at Clario. Prior to this, they worked at Bioclinica as a Principal II Software Engineer and then as a Sr. Software Engineer. In these roles, they developed frameworks and applications for the imaging part of clinical trials, including DICOM volume conversion. Mathieu co-founded VOXXL and served as the CEO, focusing on streaming massive volume data using a multiresolution approach. Additionally, they ran their own consulting business, Mathieu Malaterre Consulting, where they provided commercial consultancy on DICOM standards. Mathieu also worked as an Expert Engineer at ENS Lyon, a Developer at NLM's Insight Toolkit, and an R&D Engineer at Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. and Kitware Inc., where they contributed to various software development projects related to medical imaging. Mathieu started their career as a Research Assistant at CREATIS, where they designed and implemented software for phantom generation.

Mathieu Malaterre attended Polytech Clermont-Ferrand (CUST) from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained an Engineer's Degree in Mathematics & Modeling. In addition, they pursued a Master's Degree in Medical Imaging from Université Blaise Pascal (Clermont-II) - Clermont-Ferrand during the academic year 2001-2002. Along with their formal education, Mathieu has also acquired additional certifications. In January 2023, they obtained an Advanced Python certification from LinkedIn, and in March 2022, they completed a course titled "Build an app with ASPNET Core and Angular from scratch" from Udemy.
