Aurora Calvillo Buffington

Aurora Calvillo Buffington, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, serves as the Branch Chief at USDA since August 2022. With extensive experience in promoting health and fitness, Aurora has been a Group Fitness Instructor at the Hollywood Recreation Center in Clark County since January 2004, leading step aerobics and strength and conditioning classes. From April 2016 to July 2022, Aurora held the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, focusing on health promotion and sustainable food systems. Previous roles include Registered Dietitian/Health Educator at the Southern Nevada Health District and Part-Time Instructor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Aurora's career also includes a decade of service in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Technician. Aurora's academic credentials include a PhD in Public Health from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and multiple degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Sciences.
