George Webber has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. George began their career in 1990 as a Volunteer Coordinator and Community Development professional at the National Association for the Southern Poor, where they organized local community development organizations and facilitated grant writing and community improvement projects. In 1996, they worked as an Account Representative at Waddell & Reed. From 1998 to 2001, George served as a Financial Planner at Vision Financial Concepts. In 2002, they joined the Athens Regional Library System as a Children's Library Assistant and Storyteller until 2007. From 2008 to the present, George has been associated with Barnett Shoals Elementary. Initially, they worked as a School Librarian - Media Specialist, and later continued as a School Librarian until 2013. Overall, George has gained extensive experience in various roles such as community development, financial planning, and library services.

George Webber attended R.E. Lee H.S. in Houston from 1980 to 1984, but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. From 1984 to 1988, they attended Duke University, where they obtained a B.A. in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy, a Certificate in Primatology, and a second B.A. in Physical and Biological Anthropology. In 2000 to 2001, George pursued a Certificate in Financial Planning from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Lastly, in 2007 to 2008, they attended The University of Georgia and earned an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology - School Library Media.
