James Kelly

Partner, RAIA at ClarkeHopkinsClarke

James recently became a partner at ClarkeHopkinsClarke, leading the practice’s dedicated Seniors Living & Care sector. Drawing on his experience across commercial, heritage, community and multi-residential architecture, James is an advocate for the design and delivery of truly integrated communities for Australia’s growing senior population. He focuses the practice’s attention on research and world’s best practice in a sector that has changed rapidly in recent years.

As a partner, James guides ClarkeHopkinsClarke’s Seniors Living & Care team through each phase of a project’s evolution, from visioning to practical completion. He adds particular value to the conceptualisation phase, where he is able to initiate and guide conversations between complex stakeholder groups to change thinking within the broader community and achieve industry-leading outcomes. This focus allows the practice to understand and respond to the needs of complex stakeholder groups that may include residents, families, staff, visitors, development teams and the surrounding community.

As a partner, James works in collaboration with the leadership team to support the professional development of our practice. An emerging thought leader within the Seniors Living & Care sector, he actively contributes to public discussion and is a supporter of the greater architectural and property industry through participation in professional development and mentoring programs for both the Australian Institute of Architects and Property Council of Australia. He is also a board member for the Balibo House Trust.
