Beryl Xia has a diverse range of work experience spanning several industries. Zijie "Beryl" began their career as a Chemistry Lab Teaching Assistant at St. Olaf College in 2011, where they assisted students in the lab and graded lab notebooks. In 2012, they also worked as a Chemistry Tutor, helping students with organic and physical chemistry homework and quiz preparation.

Beryl continued their education at St. Olaf College, conducting research on algae as a potential biofuel resource from 2012 to 2013.
