Jason Black has a diverse work experience in various positions related to library services and e-commerce. Jason started their career as a Library Clerk at the Jacksonville Public Library from 1995 to 2000. Afterwards, they worked as a Communications Operator at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, from 2002 to 2003. Jason then joined Goodwill of the Heartland as an E-Commerce Specialist and Web Coordinator from 2003 to 2005. Jason's most recent work experience was with the Clay County Board of County Commissioners, where they held multiple roles. Jason started as a Library Clerk in the Reference Department from 2005 to 2012. Jason then became a Library Branch Manager II from 2012 to 2016. Following that, they served as a Technical Services Librarian from 2016 to 2018. Finally, they were promoted to Assistant Director - Library Support Services, a role they currently hold. In this position, they are responsible for budget allocations, acquisitions, and the selection of materials and online resources to meet the community's needs.
Jason Black earned an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida State College at Jacksonville in the years 1997 to 2000. Jason then pursued a Bachelors of Science degree in Information Systems / Web Development from Strayer University from 2006 to 2008. Following this, they attended Florida State University to obtain a Masters of Library and Information Science, specializing in Library and Information Science, which they completed from 2008 to 2011. In 2019 to 2020, Jason attended the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute - Year 16 Graduate to enhance their proficiency in Library Leadership.
