Diane Staats

Diane Staats currently serves as the Senior Policy Officer for Market, Grid and Investment at the Clean Energy Council, a position held since February 2024. Prior experience includes working as an Assistant Director in the Compliance and Enforcement Branch at the Australian Energy Regulator from September 2021 to February 2024, and as a Principal Lawyer in the Merger and Authorisation Law Unit within the Legal & Economic Division at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission from February to August 2020. Additionally, Diane has engaged in part-time dispute resolution and advocacy work from 2003 to February 2020, and held solicitor positions focused on Communication, Competition, and Corporate Law at Freehills, Clifford Chance, and Simmons & Simmons between 1991 and 2002. Diane Staats holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Diploma in Legal Studies from the University of Oxford, as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Sydney.
