Carl Nelson

Partner at Clean Energy Venture Group

Carl Nelson was CEO of three Massachusetts technology companies over a 30 year career and has been a member of CEVG since 2010. The companies he founded ran the gamut from mini-computer productivity software to interactive video to distance learning. He was founder of CEO of Integrity Interactive — a legal services company providing corporate ethics and compliance distance learning to many of the Global 500. The company’s private equity investors included Weston Presidio and Castenea Partners. It was acquired in 2010 by Australian SAI Global.

While at CEVG during the last 9 years, he has invested in 18 CEVG portfolio companies including 7AC, Purpose Energy, Voltserver, Resurety, CleanFiber, and AMS. Besides being a major investor, he is currently Chairman of the AMS board of directors. As an avid sailor who spends part of each year living on his cruising sailboat, he has a special investing interest in marine and ocean focused technology.

He attended Belmont Hill School, holds a BA from Colby College, and an MS from MIT’s Sloan School.
