William J. Brady Jr.

William J. Brady, Jr. is an executive and entrepreneur in the sustainable energy and advanced materials industries. He has successfully led large complex global organizations, and has created value in building emerging technology businesses.

Most recently, Mr. Brady served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Mascoma Corporation, a leading industrial biotechnology firm developing products and applications that enable the efficient and sustainable production of fuels and chemicals from biomass sources. Under his leadership, the company developed and commercialized innovative bioconversion technologies for manufacturing companies converting abundant biomass to replace petroleum-based products. Mascoma was successfully sold to Lallemand Corporation in November 2014.

Previously, Mr. Brady was Executive Vice President of Cabot Corporation, a $3 BN specialty chemical company. Throughout his twenty-three year experience, Mr. Brady held numerous positions at Cabot in the United States and Japan, including General Manager of the $2 Billion Carbon Black business which operated 23 manufacturing plants in 17 countries. Under his leadership, the business completed significant expansions in China and Brazil, and executed a major global initiative in energy efficiency. In addition, he led the commercialization of two start-up businesses at Cabot in ink jet colorants and elastomer composites.

Mr. Brady is currently Executive Chairman of Monolith Materials Inc., an emerging company that develops innovative, cost effective, environmentally sustainable technologies that convert natural gas into chemicals and materials.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors at Hollingsworth & Vose, an advanced materials company, serves on the Executive Committee of the Board at the New England Clean Energy Council, as well the Board of Trustees at the University of Scranton.

Mr. Brady is a graduate of the University of Scranton with a B.S. in Chemistry and received his M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
