Umang Kothari has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles.
In 2011, they worked as a Taj Hospitality Trainer at Taj Palace in New Delhi, where they demonstrated strong leadership and management skills while overseeing front office operations and guest relations.
In 2015, they took on the position of Nominated Representative at Combined Insurance, where they gained confidence in selling and marketing techniques and was responsible for selling health insurance to a wide range of clients.
From 2015 to 2019, Umang worked as a Front Desk Receptionist and Duty Manager at Scenic Hotel Group. In this role, they managed various front office duties, improved administrative processes, and ensured guest satisfaction.
In 2019, Umang became an Assistant Store Manager at One New Zealand and later transitioned into the role of Case Manager. Umang then moved on to become a Premium Support Concierge, where they provided high-level support to clients.
Umang also ventured into entrepreneurship and became a Franchise Owner of Clean Planet in 2020. Umang subsequently took on the position of Regional Manager, overseeing franchises in the Dunedin region and driving the growth of the commercial cleaning company.
Looking towards the future, Umang has plans to establish their own travel agency, BluSkies Travel NZ, in 2023. As the Director of the agency, they aim to provide tailored travel services to clients and simplify their travel experiences.
Throughout their career, Umang has demonstrated a strong focus on people management, coaching, and driving growth within teams.
Umang Kothari holds a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from Unitec, which was obtained in 2013. Prior to that, Umang completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Management from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Ahmedabad, from 2008 to 2011. In addition to these academic qualifications, Umang has obtained several certifications, including Customer Success Management Fundamentals from LinkedIn in April 2021, Agile Essentials from Vodafone New Zealand in December 2020, SCRUM MASTER ACCREDITED CERTIFICATION from the International Scrum Institute™ in December 2020, and Internet Connections from the Cisco Networking Academy in July 2020.
