Robert F. Powelson

Robert is the President and CEO of the National Association of Water Companies based in Washington, DC. Previously, he served as Commissioner on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and Commissioner and Chairman on the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Since 2011, Robert has served on the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Board of Directors, helped launch NARUC’s Energy Innovation Task Force, and in 2017 was elected President of NARUC. He served on the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Advisory board from 2012 to 2017, is proficient in wholesale power market regulations across the US and has deep understanding of state public utility law. Robert holds a BA from St. Joseph’s University and a Master of Governmental Administration degree from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in public finance. From 2013 to 2017, he served on the Board of Trustees at Drexel University and is active in numerous charitable endeavors.
