Lionel Métrailler

System Engineer, Space Mission Analyst, And Launch Procurement Technical Responsible at ClearSpace

Lionel Métrailler has a diverse work experience. In 2014, they worked as a Research Intern at the LASTRO Laboratory of Astrophysics of EPFL. In 2016, they completed a Master Thesis at NGTS: Next Generation Transit Survey, where they identified, analyzed and vetted transiting exoplanets candidates in NGTS data. That same year, they were also a Scientific Collaborator at the Astronomical Institute (AIUB) at the University of Bern. In 2018, they were a Delegate at the IPMC Young Professional Workshop, International Astronautical Congress 2018, part of a team of 11 people working on the comprehension of the Knowledge Management (KM) in the Space Sector. In 2019, they were a Volunteer Flight Planning coordinator for the AMADEE-20 Mars Analog Mission at the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF). Lionel was also a Committee member for the IPMC Young Professional Workshop, International Astronautical Congress 2019, mentoring the working group on the comprehension of the Knowledge Management (KM) in the Space Sector. In 2020, Lionel Métrailler was a System Engineer, Space Mission Analyst, and Launch Cell Technical Responsible at ClearSpace SA, performing system engineering tasks. Lionel was also a Programming Analyst at the University of Geneva.

Lionel Métrailler obtained their Swiss high-school maturit\u00e9 certificate in Physics and Applied Mathematics and Chemistry as complementary field from Lyc\u00e9e-Coll\u00e8ge des Creusets between 2005 and 2010. Lionel then completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics from EPFL (\u00c9cole polytechnique f\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne) between 2010 and 2014. Following this, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Astrophysics and a Master of Science - MS in Minor in Space Technologies at the EPFL Space Engineering Center (eSpace) from EPFL (\u00c9cole polytechnique f\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne) between 2014 and 2016. In June 2019, Lionel Métrailler obtained the AMBT- Analog Mission Basic Training certification from the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF).
