Sarah Longlands

Sarah Longlands is an accomplished leader in economic strategies, currently serving as Chief Executive at the Centre for Local Economic Strategies since June 2021. Previously, Sarah held the position of Director at IPPR North from February 2016 to June 2021 and was a Senior Research Fellow. During a PhD at the University of Glasgow, Sarah conducted research on the impact of economic growth policy on spatial planning in England, focusing on case studies in Cambridge and Middlesbrough. As a Freelance Consultant with Place-Values, Sarah specialized in economic development and regeneration while pursuing the PhD. Earlier roles include Director of Policy at the Centre for Local Economic Strategies and Economic Development Officer at North Yorkshire County Council. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Glasgow, a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Stirling, and an MSc in Rural and Regional Resources Planning from the University of Aberdeen.
