Kierra Cotton has a diverse range of work experience in the media and communications field. Kierra is currently working at WKYC Studios as the Co-Host of 'We the People', a community advocacy show. Prior to this role, they were a Multi-media Reporter and a Digital Reporter at the same company. In these positions, they gathered and verified information for news stories, wrote stories according to editorial standards, and demonstrated compelling storytelling through live shots and stand-ups.
Before joining WKYC Studios, Kierra was a Digital Content Producer at the same company, where they produced engaging digital storytelling content through articles, videos, photo galleries, social media, and more. Kierra also worked as an Audience Engagement Specialist, managing front-of-house duties and key office programs.
Kierra has also gained experience outside of WKYC Studios. Kierra served as an In-game Host for the Cleveland Cavaliers, a Social Media Coordinator for Fight Like a Girl™, and a Communications Intern at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School. Kierra also worked as a Writer at Ohio University Communications and Marketing and held the role of Alumni Relations Chair at Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.
In addition, Kierra has experience in media production. Kierra worked as a Reporter at AVW Productions and completed a Digital Media Internship at WBNS-TV. Kierra also participated in the WOUB: Newswatch@Noon program, where they gained experience in various newsroom positions such as anchoring newscasts, creating on-air packages, contributing web content, script writing, video editing, graphics creation, camera operation, teleprompter operation, and live news cast production.
Kierra Cotton attended Villa Angela-St. Joseph High from 2009 to 2012, though it is unclear if they obtained a degree or pursued any specific field of study during this time. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism at Ohio University from 2012 to 2016.
