Jelani Watkins

Jelani Watkins is a seasoned educational and artistic leader with extensive experience in music and choral activities. Currently serving as the Co-Director of the Middle School and Performing Arts Department Chair at Hawken School since August 2019, Jelani also directs choral activities and teaches music for grades 4-8. In addition to these roles, Jelani is a Board and Administrative Staff Member and Head Age Group Coach for the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins, and the Assistant Director and Bass Vocalist for the Cleveland Chamber Choir. Jelani holds leadership positions as Treasurer and President of the Board for Creative Spaces Cultural Arts. Earlier experiences include voice coaching at Watkins Voice Studio, assistant coaching for the Shaker Sharks Swimming Team, and contributions to music ministries at Friendship Baptist Church. Educational credentials include a Master of Arts in Music, with a focus on Choral Conducting from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Music from Morehouse College.
