Joseph Barilla

Joseph Barilla has a diverse work history in the field of software development and engineering. Joseph currently holds the position of Software Development Manager at Clever Devices since 2016.

Before their current role, Joseph worked at Kongsberg from 2013 to 2016 as a Senior Software Developer/Architect. In this role, they were responsible for designing and managing the development team for a weapons control/coordination system. Joseph also designed and implemented testing/demonstration software for a prototype smart display unit and implemented a software development process, significantly improving the software process.

Prior to Kongsberg, Joseph worked at Northrop Grumman Corp from 2004 to 2013. During their time there, they held multiple positions, including Principal Software Engineer and Software Engineer 5. Joseph managed a software team of 30+ developers, prepared management EV reports, and managed budgets and cost accounts. Joseph also led a "Rapid Prototype" team for early coding and led the development of a complex multiplatform embedded LINUX solution. Joseph received two awards for Technical Excellence during their tenure at Northrop Grumman Corp.

Joseph's work experience also includes positions at Sybari Software, Inc as a Project Leader from 2001 to 2004, CosmoCom Inc as a Software Engineer from 2000 to 2001, and Nortel Networks as a Project Manager, Principal Engineer, and Principal Analyst from 1995 to 2000. At Nortel Networks, they led project teams in developing custom IVR applications, developed software for the OSCAR product, and worked on various applications for Interactive Voice Response Systems.

Joseph began their career at Unisys, Inc in 1986 as a Software Engineer and held various positions with increasing technical responsibility until 1995. Joseph was involved in the development of a real-time distributed decision and display system prototype, including concept development, software lifecycle management, and customer presentations.

Joseph Barilla attended the New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering from 1990 to 1992, where they studied Computer Science. Prior to that, from 1982 to 1986, they pursued a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics/Computer Science double major at Hofstra University. During the same period at Hofstra University, they also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. Joseph Barilla recently obtained a certification in "Diversity and Inclusion in a Global Enterprise" from LinkedIn in June 2021.
