Oliver Holme

Head of Technology Solutions at Cleverdist

Oliver Holme started their work experience in 2000 as a Technical Student at CERN, where they developed, tested and supported a controls framework for the COMPASS experiment. Oliver also adapted and extended this framework for use by all the LHC experiments as part of the Joint COntrols Project. In 2002, they worked as a Software Developer at the University of Birmingham, implementing an e-learning system on the Pocket PC platform. Oliver then had a temporary role as an Administrative worker at Pertemps, where they handled administrative tasks, customer support, research, and organized courses and conferences. From 2003 to 2009, Oliver worked as a Controls Engineer at CERN, where they were involved in the full development lifecycle of several components in the CERN-developed JCOP Framework. Oliver also designed, created, and supported controls software built with the PVSS SCADA system. In 2009, Oliver joined ETH Zurich as a Controls Engineer, where they served as the project leader for the WinCC OA control system software of the CMS ECAL physics detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Oliver continuously worked on improving the quality and robustness of the control system. Finally, they became the Head of Technology Solutions at Cleverdist in 2016, applying their technical expertise and engineering experience to meet the demands of control systems of the future. Oliver provided consultancy services based on their WinCC OA expertise and delivered training courses as a WinCC OA Certified Trainer.

Oliver Holme completed their undergraduate education at the University of Birmingham from 1997 to 2002, earning a MEng degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Management. Later, they pursued further studies at The Open University. From 2010 to 2013, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Physics. During the same period, they also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Physics from The Open University in 2010-2011. In addition to their academic achievements, Oliver has obtained several certifications. In 2015, they became a Certified SIMATIC WinCC OA Basic Trainer from ETM professional control. In 2014, they achieved the Professional Scrum Master Level I certification from Scrum.org, and in 2013, they obtained the ITIL Foundation Level certification from Loyalist Exam Services.
