Sateesh Venkatesh has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2005 as an Animal Care and Maintenance worker at the Kenya Wildlife Service Animal Orphanage. In 2006, they worked as a Research Assistant with the WWF, developing strategies and methods of rain forest reconstruction. In 2009, they completed a Senior Independent Thesis at The College of Wooster, researching the effects of induced or non-induced plant defense on the growth rate of Manduca sexta fed on old and young leaves of Lycopersicon esculentum. In 2010, they conducted an independent study on the affects of hanging enrichment on two species of lemur in zoos. From 2011 to 2014, they worked with Global Vision International, leading and designing field research to monitor predation on sea turtles in conjunction with the big cat organization Panthera, monitoring and collecting camera traps on trails to establish mammal populations, mist netting and banding multiple bird species to monitor abundance, breeding and habitat within the forest reserve, and navigation off trail to establish and survey line transects to monitor abundance and diversity of amphibians and reptiles. From 2014 to 2019, they worked as a Conservation Biologist. In 2019, they worked as a Smithsonian Minority Award Visiting Student Fellowship at the Smithsonian Institution. From 2019 to 2022, they worked as a Teaching Assistant and Adjunct Lecturer at Hunter College, teaching Evolution and Behavior. Sateesh is currently seeking a new role and is currently Research Manager at FluentPet.

Sateesh Venkatesh earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology, General from The College of Wooster in 2010, followed by a Master's degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation from Hunter College in 2019.
