Courtenay Barklem

Courtenay Barklem is a barrister at Garden Court Chambers and the Chair of the Law Society's Human Rights Committee. An attorney in California since 2011, they are currently an adjunct Professor of Human Rights Law at Pepperdine University. With a specialization in civil and commercial litigation, including high-value construction disputes and cross-border matters, Courtenay has held various legal roles, including Partner at McCue and Partners and Special Counsel at Diamond McCarthy LLP. They have conducted substantial research on the intersection of commercial law and human rights and remain active as an arbitrator and mediator. Courtenay Barklem holds a Master of Laws in Human Rights from Birkbeck College, University of London.
