Melanie Van Rooy has an extensive work experience in various marketing roles. Melanie is currently working as the Head of Marketing at Clicks Group since April 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Professor of Practice (Marketing) at the University of Johannesburg from September 2019 to December 2022. Melanie also had their own consulting company, The Kitchen Sink Consulting, where they served as the Owner and CEO from September 2019 to December 2021, providing consulting services to consumer-focused industries in South Africa. Before that, they held the position of Group Marketing Director at Dis-Chem Pharmacies from October 2017 to August 2019. Melanie has also worked as the Marketing Director at Makro SA from February 2013 to September 2017, and as the Commercial Director at Valorem from May 2011 to January 2013. Melanie'searliest known work experience is as a Strategic Research and Planning Executive at SABMiller, where they worked from October 2001 to September 2010.
Melanie Van Rooy earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Potchefstroom Business School NWU between 2001 and 2003. Melanie also completed a PhD in Econometrics from the University of Johannesburg from 1983 to 1993. In addition to their degrees, they obtained several certifications from institutions such as Johns Hopkins University and ESSEC Business School in the fields of data science, business analytics, marketing analytics, and strategic business analytics.
