JJ Miller

Manager, Information Technology at Climate Forecast Applications Network

As Manager of Information Technology, JJ Miller supervises CFAN’s software engineers and is responsible for the system architecture, efficiency and reliability of CFAN’s operational forecast systems. He is the lead on translating research into forecast operations for CFAN’s tropical cyclone products. His expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence and inferential statistics is supporting the development of new forecast products.

Prior to joining CFAN in 2019, Miller was a Research Associate at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. His research applied deep learning and artificial intelligence to interpret satellite observations.

Miller received a M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Alabama-Huntsville and a B.S. in Geography/Meteorology from the University of Georgia.
