Nirmal Beura has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Starting in 1997, they worked at Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN) in various roles, including as a Team Leader and Executive (Projects). Nirmal also had a Development Apprentice role where they gained experience in agriculture, irrigation, and microfinance. In 2008, they interned at Mercy Corps, where they identified and implemented a contract farming project and developed a successful proposal. Nirmal continued at Mercy Corps, taking on roles such as Agricultural Program Manager, Deputy Program Director, and Director of Programs - Agribusiness. In 2017, they joined Livelihoods Venture as a Senior Project Manager in Natural-based Solutions (NbS). In 2021, they moved to ClimatePartner as the Team Lead - Project Development NbS, and eventually transitioned to the role of Head of Project Development in 2023. Nirmal Beura's expertise lies in sustainable development, project management, and agribusiness.

Nirmal Beura has a Masters in Public Administration in International Development from Cornell University, which was completed from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, they obtained a PG Diploma in Rural Management from Xavier Institute of Management (XIM Bhubaneswar) from 1996 to 1997. Nirmal also holds a Master's Degree in Political Sociology from Utkal University, completed from 1994 to 1996. Nirmal'shigh school education was completed at Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun from 1985 to 1991. In addition, they have obtained a certification as an ISO 22000:2005 FSMS Certified Lead Implementer Professional from the British Standards Institute.
