Eder Gaona-Macedo

Director at Clinicas Del Camino Real

Eder Gaona-Macedo is the current Director at Clinicas Del Camino Real. Prior to this, they were the Executive Director at the Chicano Studies Research Center, UCLA. Eder has also served as the Executive Director at Future Leaders of America, Inc. from October 2014 to August 2021.

Eder Gaona-Macedo has dedicated their career to fighting for justice and equality. Eder has worked tirelessly to fundraise and increase FLA’s annual revenue from $150,000 (2014) to $1.8 million (2021). Eder has also developed FLA’s financial sustainability plan by diversifying revenue, creating development positions and establishing FLA’s Operation Reserve of $500,000 (25% of FLA’s annual operational budget).

In addition, Eder has led FLA’s media strategy that lifted the voices of youth and their families while also highlighting FLA’s instrumental work youth and family led system change work. Eder has also supervised, coached, and developed FLA’s high-performance leadership team. Furthermore, they have managed FLA’s grant portfolio which includes local and regional foundations (35) in additional to government grants (3).

Under Eder’s leadership, FLA has successfully established FLA’s peer to peer organizing model that led to advocacy victories that addressed racial and economic disparities throughout the region

Eder Gaona-Macedo holds an MPA from Columbia University in the City of New York, with a focus on Urban and Social Policy. Eder also holds a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where they majored in Political Science and Chicano/a Studies.
