John Koplimae has a long history of working in the food and hospitality industry. John began their career in 2009 as a Line Cook at Duke of York and Bymark Restaurant. In 2010, they moved to Duke of Westminster as a Sous Chef. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Sous Chef at The Drake Hotel, where they were part of the management team responsible for the day to day operations of the kitchen, as well as tracking weekly/monthly labor and monthly inventory costs. In 2013, they took on the role of Grill Cook at Drake One Fifty. From 2018 to 2019, they held internships at Restaurant Kadeau and Restaurant Noma. In 2019, they worked as a Chef at Superfly and as LinkedIn Catering Lead at The Drake Commissary. John currently works as a Junior Renewable Analyst and Technical Project Support at Clir Renewables.
John Koplimae studied Mechanical Engineering at Mohawk College from 2002 to 2005. John has obtained additional certifications in Data Visualization with Tableau Specialization from University of California, Davis in March 2021, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate from IBM in January 2021, and Nutrition, Exercise and Sports from edX in June 2020.
