Understanding the critical decisions and responses necessary to save one’s life or that of another, Duane Dieter established the Close Quarters Defense® (CQD®) System in 1981 – an operationally focused, totally integrated program based on the concept that unarmed and armed defense skills and shooting/non-shooting responses must unify in all aspects of training. CQD has been used operationally throughout the world, and its methods of validation and accountability are utilized by some of our nation’s top military special operations teams and law enforcement agencies.

At the core of all CQD’s operations is the belief in integrity and a commitment to quality. Our success is based upon always placing the student first, thereby ensuring the highest standards of training to produce the finest operators for our nation, as well as citizens who are capable of defending themselves and others. This unique and effective approach builds motivation through personal development of the mind, body, and inner purpose, unified with the skills required to thrive in all environments. CQD employs a streamlined teaching methodology with emphasis on directness and effectiveness. This process ensures that the student understands and can responsibly utilize the skills and force necessary to accomplish the task.

CQD prepares individuals, teams and organizations for life's daily fights, where the "fight" is not simply a physical encounter, but an everyday challenge to remain positive and solidify your purpose. A positive attitude ensures the ability to achieve objectives against life's most intense struggles. CQD training will create greater confidence and allow you to understand the dynamics and challenges equally mirrored by the physical fight and the everyday battles faced in personal situations.

It has been our honor and privilege to train persons from all walks of life to defend themselves and reach their maximum potential.
