Bronagh Shiel has over 20 years of work experience in regulatory compliance and risk management across various industries. Bronagh is currently working as the Regulatory Compliance Advisory Lead at CLS Group, where they ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Bronagh oversees the development of the regulatory compliance risk management framework and leads the firm's Master Policy and Code of Conduct and Ethics programs.
Prior to their current role, Bronagh worked as a Council Member at GLG from 2020 to 2021. Bronagh also served as a Senior Manager - Risk Advisory at Deloitte from 2018 to 2020, where they provided business advice and practical solutions to negotiate risk and ensure compliance with business rules and anti-money laundering regulations.
Before Deloitte, Bronagh held the position of Chief Compliance Officer (PCF-12) at Wells Fargo International Bank from 2016 to 2018. In this role, they oversaw the development and implementation of the compliance and conduct risk program and coordinated with regulators to ensure compliance.
From 2011 to 2016, Bronagh worked at Rabobank in two different roles. As an Executive Director (Core Compliance), they managed compliance risk across all business lines in the Wholesale, Markets, and Rural divisions in North America. Bronagh also served as a Global and Regional Compliance Manager, providing oversight and management of compliance risks across various regions.
Prior to Rabobank, Bronagh worked as a Senior Compliance Officer at ACCBank / ACC Loan Management from 2007 to 2011. Bronagh began their career at Matheson in the Litigation & Debt Recovery Group, where they managed debt and litigation cases for major Irish banks and foreign financial services clients.
Bronagh has demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, risk management, and leadership throughout their career. Bronagh has built strong relationships with clients and has experience in managing regulatory exams, supervisory reviews, and enforcement actions.
Bronagh Shiel has an extensive education history. Starting in 1986, they attended Friends' School Lisburn where they completed their A Levels and GCSEs. Bronagh then went on to Abertay University from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor's (Hons) Degree in Law. Continuing their education, Bronagh attended The University of Law from 1997 to 1999 and earned both a Postgraduate Diploma in Law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. In 2008, they furthered their knowledge in Compliance by attending the Institute of Banking Ireland, where they received a Professional Certificate and Diploma. Additionally, Bronagh has acquired additional certifications, including PCF-12 from the Central Bank of Ireland and the Designated/Licentiateship Member certification from the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland.
