Matthias Bernaert has a diverse work experience in the field of football. Matthias currently holds the position of Head of Analysis - Lead Analist First Team at Club Brugge, where they started in June 2022. Prior to that, they had various roles at Club Brugge, including Performance & Video-Analist for Club NXT - U18 and Assistant Video-analist for the First Team. Matthias also worked as a Scouting & Recruitment member for the First Team. Before joining Club Brugge, Bernaert worked at Standaard Muide as an Assistant Coach for the First Team and held coaching positions for different youth teams. Matthias also worked as an Assistant Performance Analyst for the Royal Belgian Football Association and as a Teamcoach for K.M.S.K. DEINZE and FC. Gullegem. Additionally, they worked as an Assistant Coach at RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and held various roles at V-Formation Belgium, KAA Gent, and Studentencafé Pallieter.

Matthias Bernaert completed their Bachelor of Science in Lichamelijke Opvoeding en Bewegingswetenschappen with a focus on Gezondheid en lichamelijke opvoeding at Ghent University from 2016 to 2020. Matthias then pursued a Master of Science in Sporttraining en -coaching at the same university in 2021.

In addition to their academic degrees, Matthias has obtained several certifications. Matthias received their EASA - Belgium - A1/A3 Open Sub Categorie certification from the EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency in January 2023. Matthias also completed Hudl Sportscode Scripting lvl 2 and Level 1 certifications from Hudl in June 2022 and May 2022, respectively. Moreover, Matthias obtained certifications such as Physical Coach 1 from the Royal Belgian Football Association in September 2021, Uefa A from UEFA in June 2021, and Hudl Sportscode, Level 1 (Analyst and Coach) from Hudl in March 2021. Additionally, they obtained several certifications from the Royal Belgian Football Association, including Mentor 1 in October 2020, Get Fit 2 Football in May 2020, and Talentscout in June 2019. Matthias also obtained their Uefa B certification from UEFA in June 2019.
