Chris Jakes Mrics McIarb

Chris Jakes MRICS MCIArb has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of lease advisory, compulsory purchase, and general practice. Chris is currently working as the Partner - Head of Lease Advisory & Compulsory Purchase at Cluttons since May 2019. In this role, they specialize in providing lease advisory advice to corporate, public sector, and private clients across various property sectors in the UK. Prior to joining Cluttons, Chris worked at Kinney Green from December 2016 to April 2019 as a Partner, and from May 2015 to November 2016 as an Associate. Before that, they worked at CBRE as a Senior Surveyor from May 2012 to April 2015, where they focused on providing advice in compulsory purchase, particularly for major infrastructure projects. Chris began their career at Matthews & Son LLP, where they held multiple roles including Senior Surveyor from June 2010 to May 2012, Surveyor from June 2008 to May 2010, and Graduate Surveyor from June 2006 to May 2008. Chris also has experience as an Assistant Surveyor at Watsons Property from June 2004 to May 2005. Throughout their career, Chris has gained expertise in rent review, lease renewal, re-gears, lease restructuring, negotiating acquisitions, removing objectors, settling compensation claims, property cost estimates, valuation, and business rates. Chris has provided advisory services to clients across the UK, including the Port of London, CPO claimants, and acquiring authorities for major infrastructure projects such as Thames Tideway Tunnel Project, High Speed 2 (HS2), Crossrail, and London 2012 Olympic CPO.

Chris Jakes MRICS MCIArb attended Guiseley Secondary School in Leeds from 1995 to 2000. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at Fakenham College in Norfolk from 2000 to 2002. In 2002, they began their studies at Nottingham Trent University, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Land and Property, completing their education in 2006.

In addition to their formal education, Chris Jakes has also pursued additional certifications. In May 2008, they became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). More recently, in April 2021, they obtained the certification of Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
