Naïla Saadé founded the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation in 2005 to support children in difficulty. Through each of its projects, the Foundation aims to encourage the personal development of children with disabilities, improve everyday life for children who are ill and promote equal opportunities for underprivileged youngsters.
In 2012, Naïla Saadé decided to put CMA CGM’s expertise at the service of two big French NGOs: Action Against Hunger and Doctors Without Borders. That same year, “the Foundation’s first major humanitarian operation in Africa offered the transport of one hundred 20-foot “Containers of Hope” to support young people in need. In 2014, the operation was extended to cover Handicap International and The French Red Cross and in 2017, a total of 600 containers representing more than 4000 tons of humanitarian material were sent to zones at risk.
Every year, the Foundation also awards two prizes to charities in France and Lebanon. In 2017, 13 humanitarian projects, including 5 Lebanese were selected for the Foundation Prize and 7 additional grants were awarded.
Since its creation, the Foundation has supported more 200 associations and countless young people all over the world.
In 2015, in gratitude of her actions for the city and its citizens, Naïla Saadéa was awarded the City of Marseille’s Medal of Honor by Jean-Claude Gaudin, Mayor of Marseille and Vice President at the Senate.
