Fred Maher

Fred Maher, M.A., CP, APMP is an experienced business development professional with a strong background in end-to-end processes for RFP production, relationship management, prospecting, project management, and staff development. Fred has expertise in internal and external communications, public relations, and marketing strategies for various industries including utilities, higher education, and legal services. Fred has a track record of managing results-driven marketing campaigns promoting electric energy efficiency and internal campaigns that promote employee awareness, change management, and engagement.

In their current position as Director of Business Development at CMC Energy Services since 2018, Fred is responsible for managing the RFP response process, business proposal creation, and finding suitable partners to support growth and the company's mission. Previously, as a Senior Business Development Manager at CMC Energy Services from 2018 to 2023, they played a key role in making homes more affordable and comfortable for customers through energy-efficiency initiatives.

Prior to their role at CMC Energy Services, Fred worked at Exelon Generation as an Internal Communications Manager from 2016 to 2017. In this role, they led the internal communications program for Exelon's Nuclear and Power divisions, overseeing the creation of human resources materials, newsletters, employee awareness campaigns, and the development of the Exelon Nuclear app and intranet pages.

Before Exelon Generation, Fred worked at PECO Energy as a Senior Marketing Specialist from 2009 to 2016. Fred successfully managed a $5 million project aimed at impacting homeowner behavior through energy reports and provided expertise in marketing strategy, including advertising, direct mail, and website development. Fred also spearheaded marketing efforts for PECO Energy's refrigerator recycling program and air conditioner control program.

Fred's earlier experience includes working as a Senior Communications Specialist at Exelon from 2007 to 2009, where they oversaw the internal communications program for Exelon's Power division and led communication plans for various projects. Fred also gained experience as a Senior Communications Specialist at PECO, an Exelon Company, from 2004 to 2007. In this role, they served as a spokesperson for media inquiries, managed crisis communications, and provided strategic counsel to key stakeholders. Fred coordinated the production of an electronic employee newsletter and developed an executive visibility program.

Before joining Exelon and PECO, Fred worked at Temple University as a Communications Director for a year.

Fred Maher has a Master of Arts degree in Broadcasting, Telecommunications & Mass Media from Temple University. Fred also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the same university. Additionally, Fred has earned certifications from APMP, including Certified Foundation in 2019 and APMP® Bid and Proposal Management Practitioner in May 2021.
