Wei Zhao

Wei Zhao has extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as the Deputy General Manager of CAHL Iraq and New Ventures Manager at CNOOC International since June 2019. Previously, Wei Zhao held the position of New Ventures Supervisor for West Africa at CNOOC International Limited from December 2015 to March 2025, focusing on exploration, strategy alignment, project management, and commercial proposals. Wei Zhao's earlier career included a role as Petroleum Geologist at CNOOC Research Institute from 2011 to November 2015, where work centered on the evaluation of oil basins. Wei Zhao holds a PhD in Mineral Resource Prospecting and Exploration from China University of Geosciences, as well as a Master's degree in Mineralogy, Petrology, and Mineral Deposit Geology from China University of Petroleum, and a Bachelor's degree in Geology/Earth Science from the same institution.
