Mark Nicholls

Curator And Lecturer: Italian Cinema Forum at Co.As.It.

Mark Nicholls is a Senior Lecturer in Cinema Studies at the University of Melbourne since 1993, responsible for course design and delivery across various fields including cinema and screen studies, art historical studies, and arts management. Nicholls has held significant academic administrative roles, including Head of Screen and Cultural Studies and Director of Professional and Community Education. As the Founder and Artistic Director of Rear Four Theatre and previously of Crispin Theatre Company, Nicholls has extensive experience in production and performance. Additionally, Nicholls serves as a Curator and Lecturer for the Italian Cinema Forum at Co.As.It. and has contributed as a writer and lecturer across various platforms including The Age and ACMI. Nicholls holds a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies and an Honours BA in Art History and History from the University of Melbourne.

Co.As.It.

Co.As.It. Italian Association of Assistance was established in 1968 to promote the Italian language and culture in NSW and to assist the growing number of migrants arriving from Italy. Co.As.It. has grown to offer language classes to adults and children as well as a range of community programs including aged care services. Co.As.It. also runs an independent primary school, the Italian Bilingual School, with the NSW curriculum delivered in Italian and English.
