Daniel Woods is a Principal Security Researcher at Coalition, Inc. since January 2023 and serves as a Lecturer at The University of Edinburgh and The British University in Dubai in a joint appointment since July 2022, focusing on Informatics for PhD and MSc students. Previously, Daniel was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck from September 2019 to March 2022, securing grant funding and teaching a course on digital harm. As a Fulbright Cybersecurity Scholar at The University of Tulsa from August 2018 to February 2019, Daniel developed a method for reverse engineering loss distributions through insurance price analysis. Experience as a Cyber Security Model Consultant at Fractal and as a Cyber Risk Analyst at Willis Towers Watson included applied research and bespoke cyber insurance analyses. Early career experience includes data analysis for the United Nations Millennium Campaign in 2014. Daniel holds a Ph.D. in the Economics of Cyber Risk Transfer from the University of Oxford and a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Bristol.
