Arlene Babwah is the Chief Risk Officer at Coastal Credit Union. Arlene has over ten years of experience in the financial industry, with a focus on compliance and risk management.

Arlene began their career as a bank teller at BB&T in 2011. Arlene quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to Senior Loan Compliance Technician at SECU in 2013. In this role, they were responsible for creating and implementing training plans for new employees, drafting instructions for new procedures, and participating in the implementation of new policies and procedures. Arlene also conducted risk assessments of internal departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

In November 2021, Arlene was promoted to Chief Risk Officer at Coastal Credit Union. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing the credit union's compliance with all federal and state regulations. Arlene is also responsible for coordinating and tracking the review of internal departments' documents and participating in the review of vendors for the credit union's vendor management program.

Arlene Babwah has a Bachelor of Science in Business Adminstration from Appalachian State University and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Western Piedmont Community College. Arlene also has a certification from the Credit Union National Association as a Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE).

They work with Maryanne Gangoy - Chief Member Advisory Officer, Michele Stone - Chief Member Growth Officer, and Creighton Blackwell - SVP, Chief Culture & Impact Officer. Their manager is Chuck Purvis, President & CEO.
