Jose C. Porro has a diverse work experience in the fields of water and environmental engineering. Jose C. is the Founder and CEO of Cobalt Water Global since 2015, where they lead the company in its strategic direction. Prior to this, Jose worked at Universitat de Girona, first as an External Collaborator in the LEQUIA Research Group from 2013 to 2014, and then as a Senior Researcher from March 2013 to September 2014. Here, they focused on AI and Qualitative Modeling, GHG Risk Model Development, and Decision Support for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Water System Management.
Before their time at Universitat de Girona, Jose worked at Arcadis as a Consultant from 2008 to 2015. In this role, they were responsible for water conveyance and treatment projects, including hydraulic and water quality modeling, energy conservation, and greenhouse gas emission reduction. Jose also played a key role in spearheading sustainable water conveyance and treatment technology initiatives and applied research efforts.
Jose's career in water and environmental engineering began at R.K.R Hess Associates, Inc. where they worked as an Environmental Engineer from 1999 to 2003. Jose C. then joined ARCADIS U.S., Inc. as a Project Engineer-In-Training from 2003 to 2006. Later, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Manhattan College from 2006 to 2007.

Jose C. Porro is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan College in 2007. Jose C. also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Environmental Engineering from Wilkes University, which they completed between 1994 and 1999. Jose's additional certification includes being a Professional Engineer, which was obtained from the State of New York.
