Taran Smith

Taran Smith is a dedicated educational professional currently serving as a High School Counselor for the Cobb County School District since July 2023. Prior to this role, Taran spent seven years as a School Counselor at Cherokee County Schools. Taran's career began with diverse experiences, including a position as a Banana Ripener at Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc., where responsibilities included ensuring product quality and meeting customer color requirements for bananas. Taran further developed skills in student engagement while working at Central Oregon Community College, initially as a Student Activities Coordinator, where duties included coordinating student events and retention activities, and later as an Admissions Advisor/Recruiter. Taran also worked as an Admissions Advisor at Oregon State University. Taran holds a Specialist degree in Counselor Education and a Master’s degree in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from Valdosta State University and Oregon State University, respectively, along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Oregon State University.
