Bjoern Knafla has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Bjoern started their career as an Intern AI Programmer at Artifact Entertainment in 2003. In 2004, they joined the University of Kassel as a Research Associate, where they worked on programming languages and methodologies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Claudia Fohry. In 2008, they founded their own company called Bjoern Knafla Parallelization + AI + Gamedev, where they served as the Founder until 2012. During this time, they also worked as a Consultant at Virtrium LLC from 2008 to 2009. In 2012, they joined Codeplay Software Ltd as a Compiler Research Engineer, specializing in designing and implementing parallel runtimes for heterogeneous platforms. Bjoern later held the positions of Senior Software Engineer - GPGPU Systems and Principal Software Engineer at Codeplay Software Ltd, where they led a team of expert engineers. Throughout their career, Bjoern Knafla has also been actively involved in various AI-related initiatives, including serving as a member and co-coordinator of the steering AI group at IGDA AIISC.
Bjoern Knafla pursued their education from 1995 to 2003 at Bielefeld University. During this period, they obtained a Diploma degree, which is equivalent to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. Their field of study was Applied Computer Science in the Natural Sciences.
