Marina Bakhtina is a Senior Scientist at Codexis, Inc. since June 2021, specializing in the study of substrate recognition and enzyme mechanisms of amino-acyl tRNA syntheses and post-transfer editing proteins. Prior to joining Codexis, Marina served as a Research Associate at OSU from 2000 to June 2021, where responsibilities included managing the Biological Interaction and Characterization Facility, training users on various research equipment, and performing routine maintenance of instruments. Marina’s post-doctoral research included work in the Karin Musier-Forsyth Laboratory, focusing on the enzyme kinetics of tRNA editing proteins, and in the Ming-Daw Tsai Laboratory, studying DNA polymerase fidelity. Marina holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Novosibirsk State University.
