VP, Environment, Health & Safety at Coeur Mining

Jay Gear joined Coeur Mining in 2014 and transitioned to the Vice President of Environment in February 2018. Gear is an accredited environmental management and science professional with over two decades of progressive experience in the mining, chemical, and consulting industries. Gear currently oversees all aspects of Coeur’s environmental efforts, which include, permitting, environmental performance, strategic planning, corporate responsibility, etc. Before joining Coeur, Jay worked in the environmental and public policy group at a molybdenum mining operation in New Mexico, in the corporate environmental remediation group for a leading chemical and ammunitions company, and in the environmental consulting field primarily with the investigation and remediation of impacted industrial sites throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Mr. Gear holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Watershed Management with a hydrogeology emphasis from the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point.
