Scott Thompson

VP, Operations Manager at Coffman Engineers

Scott is the operations manager for the Guam office and a senior project manager with a portfolio or project experience ranging from managing federal contracts to overseeing high profile federal oil and gas projects. Scott’s well rounded background and decades of project management experience gives him the tools needed to manage Coffman’s most remote office location.

When Coffman was tasked with designing the first DOT permitted composite fiberglass gas pipeline, Scott was the natural choice to serve as overall project manager. This complex, multidiscipline project included design and construction management support for new sales, distribution, and process piping facility as well as the full design and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) programming for a complete, new production facility—the first of its kind in Southern Kenai Peninsula area. The project was delivered on an extremely tight schedule with no room for extension. Scott tackled this task by relying on his range of project management methods, strategies, and knowledge to develop an execution plan that met the owner’s needs while allowing for a reasonable design schedule. The project budget and schedule stayed on track through regular team meetings, and Coffman staff on site throughout construction and project startup. The result was the award of a second follow-up project for the same client—adding to Scott’s career project success and client relationships.
