Alan Chin has been working in the art and design industry since 1987. Alan began their career as an Artist and then became the President of Alan Chin Design, a design firm in Los Angeles, California. In 2008, they co-founded Iron Triangle Winery, a winery that uses ceramic technology to age and ferment wine. In 2012, they co-founded Cogeo, Inc., a company that uses innovative technologies to make positive change happen. Alan also co-founded Cogostar, a social hub that provides the necessary toolbox for corporations, foundations, nonprofits and individuals to collaborate efficiently. In 2013, they became the Director of Downey Projects, a contemporary art platform in California. In the same year, they also founded The Kelsey Projects, an alternative museum space in Berkeley. Finally, in 2022, they became a Partner/Director of Space Ten, an artist-run exhibition space.
Alan Chin attended Acalanes High School from 2001 to 2005. Alan then attended California College of the Arts from 2005 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Ceramics + Painting. During their time at California College of the Arts, they also studied abroad at Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen from 2007 to 2008, focusing on Visual & Performing Arts. Alan also took Fine/Studio Arts, General courses at Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen.
