Sam Medrington

Sam Medrington has a diverse work experience in the field of human-centered design and user experience. Starting in 2007, Sam worked as a Usability Consultant at System Concepts Ltd. After serving in this role for several years, they were promoted to Senior Usability Consultant in 2011. In 2012, Sam transitioned to freelance work as a User Experience Specialist before joining BAE Systems Applied Intelligence in 2013. At BAE Systems, Sam held multiple positions, including Principal UX Consultant and Global Head of User Experience. In 2017, Sam worked at Thomson Reuters as a UCD Governance specialist before moving to Refinitiv in the same role later that year. From 2017 to 2020, Sam worked as a Human Centered Design Consultant as a contractor. Sam's most recent position is at Cognite AS, where they hold the role of Principal Designer since July 2020.

Sam Medrington began their education at the University of York in 2000 and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2003. Following this, in 2003-2004, Sam attended the University of Leeds and obtained a Master's degree in Human Factors and Ergonomics. After a gap of a few years, Sam pursued further education and in 2006-2007, obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Multimedia & Interactive Systems from Edinburgh Napier University. In addition to these academic qualifications, Sam also obtained certifications in the field of leadership and project management. In 2016, Sam completed the New Leaders Program from Harvard Business Publishing, and in 2012, obtained the APMP certification from the Association for Project Management.
