Strategic Account Executive, Energy at Cognite

Sean Steen has a diverse work experience in various industries. Sean started their career as a Geologist, working at Famcor Oil, Inc. for three summer internships. Sean then became a Teaching Assistant at Texas A&M University while pursuing their education. Sean Steen later joined Apache Corporation, where they held multiple roles, including Exploration Geologist, Structural Geologist, and Development Geologist. At Apache Corporation, they generated maps, identified leads, and proposed seismic acquisition projects. Sean also served as a geology expert on an integrated team of specialists.

After their time at Apache Corporation, Sean Steen founded Ugly Duck BBQ, LLC, a catering and delivery company. As the Founder and CEO, they were responsible for all aspects of the business, including sales, account management, operations, and compliance with regulations. Sean successfully implemented sales and marketing strategies that tripled the corporate/private accounts base and increased revenue by over 200%.

Sean Steen then joined PGS as an Account Manager, where they were responsible for sales, promotion, and marketing of seismic acquisitions and imaging services in Northwest Europe. Sean managed key accounts, attended conferences, and conducted technical presentations to clients. Sean achieved impressive sales results, meeting ambitious targets of approximately $8 million in the first year.

After their time at PGS, Sean Steen worked as a Senior Web Developer and Graphic Designer at Medias AS. Sean was responsible for front-end and back-end web development, graphic design, and corporate branding. Sean worked with various major and private companies in Norway, designing and developing websites, web shops, logos, and marketing materials.

Currently, Sean Steen is working at Cognite as a Strategic Account Executive, focusing on the energy industry. Prior to this role, they worked as an Account Development Manager, where they enabled the digital transformation of heavy-asset industries by making industrial data accessible and useful for creating meaningful insights.

Throughout their career, Sean Steen has demonstrated strong skills in sales, marketing, account management, project management, and geology. Sean has proven track records of achieving targets and successfully delivering projects.

Sean Steen completed their education in the field of geology. Sean obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geology/Earth Science, General from Texas A&M University, where they enrolled from 2004 to 2008. Sean continued their education at the same university and earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Structural Geology/Tectonophysics from 2008 to 2011. Additionally, Sean Steen received several certifications in various areas such as cloud computing, digital transformation, and sales techniques from institutions like LinkedIn and Cognite Academy.
