Andrew Tjang

Founder & CEO at Cognition IP

Andrew Tjang is the co-founder of Cognition IP and is charged with realizing the vision of using technology to change the face of legal service delivery. Prior to founding Cognition IP, Andrew taught on faculty of Rutgers University, New Brunswick for six years.

He holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Computer Science where his thesis focused on the development of distributed systems and machine learning. In his undergraduate work, he minored in premedical studies and chemistry. He has both published and reviewed research papers in the area of distributed systems reliability, applied machine learning/information retrieval, and computer science education. His research has been funded by Google, and he previously worked at Ask.com as a research scientist.

He also holds certifications as a FEMA communications leader (COM-L), specializing in radio communication and data networks in emergency management, and as a National Registry Paramedic, providing advanced prehospital medical care on the state and local levels.
