Marcelo Granja has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. Marcelo began as a Campaigner for The Australian Red Cross Blood Service in 2008, followed by a Quality Intern role at Pirelli in 2009. In 2011, they worked as a Research Analyst for the Ceará State Board of Education and as an Assistant for the Lemann Center for Educational Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Brazil. From 2013 to 2017, they were a Data Scientist for the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro, where they integrated and data munged databases regarding urban mobility, developed a system to audit service level agreement in the municipal bus system, and set up the city's new open data initiative. From 2018 to 2019, they were a Data Scientist at Cognitivo.ai and then at Pavonis Mons.
Marcelo Granja completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas between 2005 and 2010. Marcelo then went on to pursue a Master's degree in International and Comparative Education from Stanford University between 2011 and 2012. Finally, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro between 2015 and 2017.
